Educational assistance
TAFE Open Learning provides learning resources to guide you through your study. TAFE teachers and tutors are available by phone, email or in person (at their Institute and campus location) to help develop your understanding and to clarify assessment requirements.
Career and personal counselling
Student Counsellors are available to assist students with the following:
- Program/career and vocational counselling
- Short term counselling for Program related problems as well as personal issues
- Options for students experiencing financial difficulties
- Interaction with Institute staff on behalf of students
- Advice about services available in the community.
Disability services
Disability Support Officers assist students with disabilities with various aspects of their study. This may include:
- Talking with students regarding specific requirements
- Liaising on behalf of students with a teacher or teachers so that there is an understanding and accommodation of students' needs
- Locating and organising equipment and specialist personnel as required upon assessment
- Assistance with providing modified versions of the learning materials or assessments when required.
Indigenous Support Officer
The Indigenous Support Officer's responsibilities range from:
- Organising Programs for Indigenous students
- Liaising with local communities
- Managing student issues
- Cross cultural awareness for staff and students.
Learning Support Officer
The Learning Support Officer is available to assist students with the following study skills and strategies including:
- Learning and study techniques
- Assisting students new to study
- Getting started with flexible and distance study
- Information and resources on study skills.
- Assistance to students with a first language other than English.
Learning Network Queensland
TAFE Open Learning students have access to approximately 45 Learning Network Centres conveniently located throughout Queensland. These facilities include computer access, meeting and study rooms, fax, photocopies and more. Nominal charges may apply for some facilities.
