Industry need: A government department had decided to outsource some of its activities, resulting in a number of workers being retrenched. PSD was asked to come up with a solution which would give the retrenched workers a qualification to make it easier for them to gain alternative employment.
The PSD solution: A guide was developed to assist the retrenched workers gain recognition for their current knowledge and skills. As a result, workers' skills gaps were identified and individual training programs developed to enable them to gain nationally-recognised qualifications.

Industry need: An organisation decided that risk management was becoming an increasingly important issue for its clients. They decided that a web-based training program would maximise access to information on basic risk management principles.
The PSD solution: A short training program was developed with a number of instructionally-designed, interactive features to meet the needs of a range of people with varying skills and abilities.
